aka “The Boss”
Born in Kraków and raised outside of Toronto, Anne holds a BS in Animal Biology (with specialized honors) from the University of Guelph in Canada, and an MBA from Saint Mary’s College. She is Bookish Media’s CEO. Before she became The Boss, she ran a 75-horse equestrian center in Northern California with her husband, Craig. Anne’s areas of expertise range from animal behavior and nutrition to cancer research, and she’s been published in a number of peer-reviewed scientific journals, including Nature Biotechnology. Her first forays into fiction occurred at the Writing Salon in San Francisco, and continued under the mentorship of best-selling author Ellen Sussman of French Lessons. She’s workshopped with some of the best, including Robert Goolrick of The Reliable Wife; Jacquelyn Mitchard of The Deep End of the Ocean; and Maria Semple of Where'd You Go, Bernadette? Anne’s novel Learning to Fall will be published in August 2016. As soon as she gets some free time, she’ll finish writing the next one (she’s already scribbled the ending on the program from her daughter’s piano recital). She lives on an island in the middle of Puget Sound with her husband, daughters, and an array of animals.
Everything You Always Wanted to Know . . .
I’ve been “leaning in” for a long time. I cleaned horse stalls twelve hours a day, seven days a week, to cover the cost for dressage lessons when I was younger.
